WALK & WADE TRIPS
Our walk & wade trips are built for anglers who want to slow things down, get hands-on with the river, and experience Wyoming’s waters up close. These trips take you into rugged canyons, pocket-water freestones, meadow streams, and high-energy riffles where wild trout hold tight to structure and respond to well-placed casts.
Walk/wade fishing is a great choice for both new and experienced anglers, offering time to learn technique, explore different types of water, and truly connect with the landscape.
WHAT TO EXPECT ON YOUR WALK & WADE TRIP
Full or Half Day On Foot
Whether you choose a full-day (5–7 hours) or half-day (3–4 hours) walk & wade trip, the experience begins the same way: you’ll meet your guide in Cody, discuss your goals for the day, and head to the best available water based on flows, clarity, and current fishing conditions.
Full-day trips give you more time to explore multiple stretches and dive deeper into technique, while half-day trips offer a shorter, focused outing perfect for beginners, families, or anyone fitting fishing into a tighter schedule. Both options provide hands-on instruction, scenic wading water, and a true Wyoming experience on foot.
Hands-On Instruction
Your guide works with you one-on-one to teach or refine:
Proper casting and timing
Reading pocket water, seams, and structure
Drift control and mending
Dry fly and dry-dropper presentation
Nymphing and indicator setups
Streamer approaches on foot
Walk/wade days offer the perfect environment for controlled learning and technical fishing.
Wild, Scenic Country
Most of our wading locations sit in canyons, timbered valleys, or high-country meadows, often with opportunities to see wildlife such as bighorn sheep, mule deer, moose, eagles, and more. Expect a true Wyoming experience.
Techniques
Depending on season and river, you may use:
Dry flies during hatches or summer terrestrials
Dry-dropper rigs for pocket water
